I’ve been making cranberry sauce for years. In college I would make huge batches of it as soon as cranberries came into season and put it on EVERYTHING, from sandwiches to oatmeal. Over the years my recipe has changed and evolved and I think this version is the best one yet. It only has a few ingredients but sometimes simple is the most delicious.
Ingredients -
10oz cranberries - fresh or frozen
1 cup red wine
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
5 cardamom pods
Zest of one orange
Pinch of salt
Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer over medium low heat until the cranberries have broken down and the sauce has thickened. Remove the cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods before serving.
